What Is Soft Washing?
Soft washing is a safer, more effective alternative to pressure washing when it comes to cleaning many surfaces. Soft washing does not use harmful high pressure that can be destructive yet it thoroughly cleans the area being treated and eliminates the microbes that are the root cause of staining and decomposition on roofs and various other structure surfaces. Since soft washing eliminates the microbes that initiate discoloration and decay, treatments last longer than pressure washing treatments. Soft washing is also versatile in the surfaces it can effectively clean:
Roofs, siding, decks, fences, concrete, brick and more.
Because of its gentle application soft washing can clean surfaces that could not otherwise be treated with pressure washing such as EFIS and Dryvit.
Is the soft wash process safe for property, plants & pets?
Yes. Our services enhance the beauty of your property without damaging plant life. Our solutions are bio-degradable and our true-blue application method ensures your personal property, landscaping, and pets are safe. You can even hire us to soft wash your dog’s kennel!
With safety being our number one concern, we request that people and pets stay indoors until our job is complete and the work site is cleaned up. After we are finished, we invite all the family members, even the furry ones to come outside and take a look.
*We understand people may need to come and go during a job and this can be coordinated with good communication.
Why do I need to clean my roof?
A dirty roof is not just unattractive, it is infested! The black streaks often seen on rooftops are Gloeocapsa Magma. Gloeocapsa Magma is a cyanobacteria that has a filament root system that eats away at roofing materials resulting in granular loss, swelling and decomposition. Having a clean, lighter roof is not only aesthetically pleasing it also extends the life of your roof and can save you money on your monthly electric bill.
A clean roof also makes for a healthier living environment for your family and business. Growing cultures of bacteria and fungal strains on your roof/home may be dangerous to your health. Mold, mildew, fungus and blue green algae are chief runners on the list of environmental allergy irritants and can cause allergic respiratory disease. Mold and fungus are known culprits in sick building syndrome. Having a clean roof and home is not just a cosmetic service but should be a fundamental part of home maintenance.
When will I see the results of the roof washing?
The results are almost always immediate!
Depending on the condition of the property treated we may ask some clients to wait 6-8 weeks for some brown areas to fade and/or for moss or lichen growths to fall off. If for some reason after 6 to 8 weeks, any brown spots or growths remain we request you to reach out to us. We will then do an onsite assessment to determine the next step.
How long will the results of a soft washing treatment last?
Typically soft washing treatment results will last at least 4 times and up to 6 times as longer than pressure washing before staining redevelops. In many circumstances, surface soft wash treatments will last longer than one year.
How much does it cost?
Each roof, home and surface is different. We take into consideration many factors, subject but not limited to: stains present, roof pitch, and square footage.
For this reason we request that you give us a call and we can give you a free estimate for what you would like accomplished on your property.
Can you only treat the bad areas on my roof?
Yes, we can. We understand that only touching up only the front visible part of a roof will increase the curb appeal for a home that is for sale or that it simply may not be within someone’s budget to treat an entire roof. Too, the north side or a shaded side of a roof is more susceptible to Gloeocapsa magma infestation and spot treatments are sometimes necessary.
Please keep in mind though the untreated parts of the roof likely already have bacteria and algae spores that have not grown to visibility yet. These spores can travel to the treated roof sections and expedite contamination and bacteria regrowth.
Why Choose Arkansas Housewashers?
We offer individualized service to meet our client’s every need when it comes to exterior home cleaning maintenance. When necessary we use a pressure washer or surface cleaner required to treat specific flat surfaces. In general though, our gentle soft wash approach gets to the root of mold problems without high pressure cleaning and the risks associated with it. Pressure washing often creates erosion that strips away loosened materials due to decay or aging and blasts mold spores, mildew and bacteria to another location, in some cases driving mold spores deeper into the surface that is being sprayed. Our water-based, biodegradable solution penetrates the surface to break down dirt and grime, killing mold spores, mildew, algae and bacteria on the spot therefore yielding a deeper, more effective cleaning. Our soft wash method results last 4-6 times longer than high powered pressure washing and uses one 1/4-1/3 the amount of water, making it more for sustainable for the environment and a more viable option your pocketbook!
